Laura Turner-Essel

Laura Turner-Essel holds a PhD in Counseling Psychology and works at the intersections of mental health, racial justice, and cultural education. In her previous role as Director of Community Life at the Center for Agroecology (University of California Santa Cruz), she designed and facilitated workshops in conflict resolution, communication skills, and food equity issues with farmers in training. She regularly leads mindfulness programs, restorative circles and support groups for those engaged in social justice and community-focused work. Currently she serves as Program Manager in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine where she handles strategic planning for a dynamic team of researchers, clinicians and educators. Laura lives in Santa Cruz, CA with her husband and four children.
